PREFACE

This book has been written for the B.A and B.Sc (Honours) students of semester of all Indian Universities. according to the C.B.C.S syllabus. After teaching the honours and post graduale students for more than thirty years, I found that students lack the basic concepts of Differential Calculus. So, I have given stress on the fundamentals so that the students may grasp it easily. A special feature of the book is the chapter "Application of calculus in business and economics", which is included in C.B.C.S syllabus.

I cannot claim that the book is free from mistakes, though every care has been taken to avoid them. I shall appreciate the pointing out of mistakes and suggestions to improve the book.

I am also thankful to my wife Mrs. Nelofar Jahan and sons Tauseef, Tauqueer and Ayan for their constant encouragement and inspiration in writing this book.
